Pavers 101

Welcome to our guide on pavers! In this resource, we’ll look at how pavers can enhance outdoor spaces through their durability and visual charm. You’ll learn about the installation process and the different materials available, such as concrete, brick, and natural stone. Get ready to choose the perfect pavers for your project!

MATERIALS

Choosing the right material is key to a long-lasting installation, especially in New Jersey's climate with freeze-thaw cycles, rain, and temperature swings. At Rowlands Construction, we work with high-quality options that hold up well here.

Concrete Pavers

The most popular and affordable choice. They're man-made from cement, sand, and aggregates, available in many colors, shapes, and textures.  Best for: Budget-friendly projects in Lyndhurst, Rutherford, or Newark areas.

- Pros: Extremely durable, freeze-thaw resistant (when properly rated), easy to clean, and great for patios, driveways, or walkways. They won't crack like poured concrete slabs because individual units can shift slightly.

- Cons: Can fade slightly over time if not sealed (we recommend sealing every 2–3 years).

We help you select the best material based on your budget, style, and site conditions—always prioritizing options rated for NJ's weather.

1. Planning & Site Prep

We start with a free consultation and site visit to measure, design your layout (pattern, size, slope for drainage), and mark boundaries. We check for utilities and get any needed permits.
